My Linux Timeline...

Suse 6.4 -> 7.2
This was the distribution on which i made my first linux experiences.

Debian Sarge
After playing around with Suse I wanted to try out something new. But due to the fact that Debian had no support for new hardware it hasn't been in use for long. :-)

Ubuntu 5.10 -> 8.04
Ubuntu has been my favorite distribution for quite a long time (2005 - 2008) and I really enjoyed using this distribution. But since the community got bigge and the expectation became so to Ubuntu became to overloaded and slow for me. I still recommend Ubuntu to any new linux user because it's very easy to install and use. It has a big community and howto's for almost any problem that might come up when using this distribution.

Archlinux
My current system! What can I say? WOW! I really like it because it is:

  • fast
  • highly customizable
  • up-to-date
  • nice to have :-)

I recommend this distribution to anyone how has some experiences with linux and the shell. Configuration is done with a text-editor (vi ftw!) and you do exactly know what happens! Just give it a try. You wont regret it.
